Grants and annual reporting

Grant figures that count themselves.

Members check in at the door, and every check-in is counted. When a grant application or the annual report asks how many came and how often, the answer’s already there, for any period you choose, along with the figures the ACNC or Charities Services asks for.

The shed in numbers

Any period, compared with the one before.

This financial year, last financial year, the last twelve months, or any two dates. Each figure shows whether it went up or down on the period before, and says how it was counted.

  • Members at the end of the period, who joined and who left
  • Sessions held against the roster, and member attendances
  • Attendance by month, and how often members come
  • Age of members, and where they live by suburb and postcode
  • Events, and enquiries through to joining
  • Inductions, incidents and volunteer hours in the period
On one page

The year on one sheet.

The figures written out as plain sentences, each with a small chart and a note on how it was counted, headed with your shed’s name. It prints on one page, ready to attach to an application or read out at the AGM.

Every report opens to a full table you can download as a spreadsheet, and the attendance log lists every sign-in through the door for any dates you choose.

If your Treasurer uses it for the accounts

The money side of a grant.

If the Treasurer keeps the shed’s accounts in Shed Manager, the reports a funder or an auditor asks for are there as well.

Acquitting a grant

Tag each line with the grant it belongs to, and one report shows that grant’s money in, what it was spent on, anything bought with it, and what's left.

The year-end pack

Income and expenditure, the balance sheet, receipts and payments, budget against actual and the rest, in one PDF with a cover and contents, or as a spreadsheet, for the auditor or the AGM.

Donations with proper receipts

A numbered receipt on the spot, emailed to the donor. It is a tax receipt when your shed is a deductible gift recipient and the gift qualifies, and a thank-you when it is not.

The BAS figures

For a shed registered for GST, the worksheet gives the boxes for any period, ready to copy onto the form.

What treasurers ask

Where do the attendance numbers come from? From members checking themselves in at the door. Nobody adds them up; they are counted from the check-ins, and each figure says how.
Can we get last financial year for this grant?Yes. Choose last financial year, or type any two dates, then print it, save it as a PDF or download the table.
Does it do our ACNC return? It gives you the figures the annual statement asks for, the money and the attendance, and the Treasurer types them into the ACNC’s form. It does not lodge anything for you.
Do we have to keep our accounts in it?No. The attendance and member reports work either way. The money reports are there if your Treasurer uses Shed Manager for the accounts.
Can we pay for Shed Manager from a grant? If the grant allows it, yes. Ask us and we’ll send a quote to attach to the application.

The Tier 4 performance report, drafted.

All four parts, including the statement of service performance written from the shed’s own records: members, sessions, visits, hours volunteered, community projects and the people helped. The figures for the annual return come box by box. The shed still files them itself.

Have the figures ready before the next grant is due.

About 45 minutes on a video call, and we show you the figures coming out.
